Umbra, the acclaimed Icelandic roots ensemble, is thrilled to announce their latest project: a new album and stage production inspired by the ancient Norse poem Völuspá. This ambitious venture features collaborations with renowned Norwegian Sámi musician Torgeir Vassvik and Finnish percussionist Samuli Kosminen, promising a unique fusion of traditional and contemporary sounds.
Umbra, known for their genre-crossing exploration of folklore and medieval poetry, will reinterpret Völuspá through their haunting vocals and atmospheric instrumentation. The ensemble’s unique soundscape is a fusion of ancient narratives and modern musical expressions, creating a space where history and innovation coexist.
